Cant Afford that?
With our country in a recession, and budgets tighter, spending money on fashion is one of the last things on the average persons list.
If you have walked into your local Abercrombie & Fitch store recently, you have probably noticed that purchasing an outfit consisting of a pair of jeans and a shirt could cost you well over $200. But what are you really spending that money on: The fit and quality of the clothing? or that damn moose? Probably both, but I'm leaning more towards the moose. This trend of "money for moose" as i like to call it, or money for animal logo print on clothing, is present in several of Todays popular name brands. Such as Lacoste, Hollister , and Ralph Lauren. Not saying that one cant pull a nice outfit from these brands, but that they are simply too expensive for the average persons budget at the time.
Well I'm here to tell you that there are still ways to look fashionable and not spend loads of cash. First i would like to tell you about one of my favorite places to shop; Forever 21[www.forever21.com] Forever 21 offers some of the latest styles in fashion and for a reasonable price. There is a wide selection of clothing, ranging from basic tees to elegant dresses. What i find most inviting about forever21 is the endless options of pairing. The versatility of their clothes makes it very easy to mix and match and still look great. For $200 one could buy two pairs of shoes, two pairs of pants, two pairs of shirts, two dresses, and still have left over to buy accessories. cant beat that!
For the men there is Heritage1981[http://www.forever21.com/heritage1981/mens/default.asp] Which is great for guys who want to look trendy, spend less, and not a fan of the birds and moose on their shirts. Heritage1981 offers a wide variety as well, however personally i would purchase denim from another lender. Their graphic tees and shirts are creative and very comfortable. Personally what I like the best is their assortment of vests for men. The recent trend of wearing casual vests can be very stylish and I find that they offer a good amount of options. All under $40.
Urban Outfitters [Urbanoutfitters.com] is another great lender that offers "simple is better" looks for great prices. While they do have some fashion products that have steep prices(especially their outerwear, shoes, and denim), the majority of their stuff is reasonable, fashionable and of great quality. Like forever21, they offer a wide selection of clothes for one to choose from, with a similar focus on Todays urban, chic, and retro trends. I personally love what Urban Outfitters has to offer and would highly recommend you check their stuff out.
Now for those of you who would still like to wear your "moose" I would suggest looking for an outlet around your area. These outlets could offer what your looking for, for half the original price. If you have a Plato's closet in your area, that would be a great place to start. While each one varies in the items sold, one could find some of Todays popular expensive brands for cheap. For example, i went the other day and bought a perfectly good Ralph Lauren polo for $12 bucks. Even though it had been previously used it still looked brand new. At Plato's closet you can also bring in your old and unwanted name brand clothing and get money in return, however they can be pretty picky.
While there are plenty other places to shop fashionable for less, the two I named above are just ones that stood out to me. Others should include: American apparel, Papaya, H&M,and even Target [which is GREAT for accessories]
||I would like to re state that the purpose of this was not to bash Abercrombie and Fitch, nor Hollister, Lacoste or Ralph Lauren. I was just trying to make a point on how expensive their prices can be and ways for those who dont have the money to spend on the brands to be fashionable for less. I have nothing against moose [LOL] promise||
So now go ahead!
add fashion back to your budget.
Spend less, and shop more.
